Tile can be a good choice if you are working with uneven floors. Most
tile contractors know how to use a leveling compound ("mortar bed")
underneath the tile to make the floor even. This can be particularly
useful when working with old unfinished basement floors.
If you do end up raising part of the floor that will later support a
vanity or base cabinet, you may want to ask your cabinet installer to
make adjustments so that the countertop will not be raised as well.
