Bosch rotak lawn mower motor repair

I was mowing the grass a few days ago and the mower suddenly cut out at first I thought that grass was clogging the blade but this was not the case. I tried it again and switched on and died. I could not restart it again until it had sat for a bit. I suspected the thermal cut out. I removed the mains supply and turned it over. I found the blade hard to turn. After dismantling the motor I was able to spray some wd40 into the back of the motor bearing to clean it out as was dried out and stiff to turn. I left it overnight and then repacked the bearing with lithium grease. The spindle now turned freely. I put the motor back together but have found that once the armature bolts are tightened the motor is again tight to turn. I reinstated the power and the mower is still in the same state. If the bolts are slackened a bit then the motor turns more freely but I haven't tried to run it like that.

Did you hit anything with the blade recently? Years ago I hit a rock with my mower and it bent the crankshaft enough that the motor was junk after that.

I did manage to get it running but smoke started emitting from the motor which I thought might be the grease burning off but the motor was running very hot. I thus decided to call it a day. From what I have heard Bosch along with a lot of manufacturers are not of the quality they once were. I suspect all the parts motors included are manufactured in some factory in China. I bought a Mc Gregor which is a Argos brand for £68. I saw that a new motor was being sold for the Bosch at £123 -whose going to pay those prices. Unfortunately we live in a throw away world
