Ran across this on the net. I am thinking of building it, (not a partier, more to make slushes for School & church picnics.)

comments on design, does it look like it would work? It is a brilliant thought, if it works.

Looks great to me, although I need no more incentive to make large quantities of margaritas!

I was actually trolling around E-bay looking for a used slush machine, I was thinking about picking one up if it was really cheap, for picnics and church, campouts.. etc. Anyway somone had a listing for plans for a "Super slush/margarita maker" going on about how it would make hundreds of drinks... etc etc... and selling plans for like 5 bucks. (not revealing the garbage disposal "secret" just teasing me with "can be built with parts from home depot for 80 bucks" I am too cheap to put up the $4.99 that the dude was asking... so I just did a Google search and ran across the plans posted for free... (same picture
-external view, not giving up the secret) as was posted on EBay.

It is brilliant idea... but I am wondering if it would be too noisy to use at a party? And how long can you run a garbage disposal.. obvoiusly grinding ice would keep it cool...

Good job. There are many people on Ebay selling "plans" that are ripped off from freely available web sites...

You can buy fancier disposers that are supposed to have more insulation, but I'm not sure how much it helps. Normally a disposal is mounted pretty solidly to the sink, which is then mounted solidly to the counter. I wonder about their crate design tending to vibrate or "walk" around the counter top - big flat rubber feet on the bottom may help.

If you're planning on using this outside, like at the end of a long extension cord, you might go for a smaller disposer - it will work better with the higher voltage drops you may encounter.

They didn't mention any switch for the disposer... apparently they just plug it in to run it. You might consider adding a switch in a sealed outdoor electrical box, and maybe even a GFCI. If you're using it outside, the socket the extension cord is plugged into "should" have a GFCI, but often it won't.
And how long can you run a garbage disposal..

Good question. One manufacturer simply states "intermittent duty" without going into any detail.
