I purchased a house with beautiful tongue and groove boards on the walls. It is a log cabin theme throughout the house. My problem is that where ever there was a picture or wall hanging the wood is lighter than the rest of the wall. I really want to keep the wood and am wondering how to deal with this situation. I do not want to paint the wood. Any suggestions.

I am also wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent this from happening on the other part of the walls.

The wood is natural. The only coloration is the patina of the wood.or lack of it where the wall hangings are. Is there a way to prevent this from happening with new wood?
